Diablos OutSports is San Antonio’s largest LGBTQ sports association! It is open to anyone and any skill level, from football beginners to super bowl athletes, gay or straight, male, female, or transgendered. We also have Kickball, Volleyball and Dodgeball leagues that you can join if football is not for you. If you’re new in town and you’re looking to meet other gay sports minded individuals then come on out to one of our games or events and meet some of the players.
The San Antonio Diablos joined the National Gay Flag Football League in 2009 and has represented San Antonio in 7 previous National Gay Bowls:
- 2009 Washington DC
- 2010 Phoenix
- 2011 Houston
- 2012 Denver
- 2013 Phoenix
- 2014 Philadelphia
- 2015 San Diego
The league consists of several teams (4-6) that play in a Spring and Fall season. At the end of each season, there is a tournament bracket, where the teams vie for first place as the best of the Alamo City. The teams also travel to other Texas cities for games with those city’s representative teams.
A special competition team comprised players choosen from the league teams will travel to the annual National Gay Flag Football “Gay Bowl”, Sin City Shootout, Chicago Pride Bowl and Sunshine Bowl.
Additionally, the team participates in non-football events such as volunteering for local community organizations like local food pantries, Pride, CitiGroup Pride, and Fiesta. The team also has the distinction of being a social group with team outings throughout the year (sometimes every week!) like team tubing, camping, volleyball, softball, special events, and pub crawls.
